In addition to directing, Olivia Wilde will be the main character named Alice. The figure of a young wife who just married and moved to an experimental community called Victory Project with her husband, Jack (played by Harry Styles). After much deliberation, Olivia Wilde chose to step down.
He then looked for a suitable actress to replace him. That's where the name Florence Pugh appeared. The funny thing is, Florence Pugh is indeed on the cast list but as a small role named Bunny. Because the portion is not too much in the story, Bunny will eventually be played by Olivia Wilde.
"I was blown away by Florence Pugh's performance. I really love Midsommar and I love her. I see her as an extraordinary person. She is truly the most exciting young actress of today," said Olivia Wilde in an interview with Variety.
Furthermore, Olivia Wilde explained the reason for leaving the role of Alice and gave the character to Florence Pugh. According to him, the figure of Alice in the story is much younger and an actress of the same age as the character would be more suitable to play her.
Florence Pugh really shined after her appearance in Midsommar. She actively starred in popular films such as Greta Gerwig's Little Women which brought her an Oscar nomination, then officially entered the Marvel Cinematic Universe through the Black Widow film as Yelena Belova.
Florence Pugh has also been confirmed to appear in the film Dune: Part Two. He will play one of the emperor's children in the film.
