Netflix has just released the film Me Time on Friday (26/8/2022). The film, written by John Hamburg, tells the story of Sonny Fisher (Kevin Hart) who plays a housewife after his wife, Maya (Regina Hall) gives birth to their second child, Ava (Amentii Sledge).
Maya is a skilled architect. Sonny doesn't want Maya to lose the opportunity to make her dream come true. He took a radical decision, namely choosing to be a housewife.
However, after years of being a stay-at-home dad, Sonny has never enjoyed Me Time. He is always busy taking care of his two children, Dash (Che Tafari) and Ava.
One night, Maya takes Sonny to meet his client, Armando (Luis Gerardo Méndez). Whether it's low self-esteem or jealousy, when he gets home, Sonny argues with Maya.
Maya decided to take her two children on vacation to her grandparents' house. Meanwhile, Sonny was asked for Me Time.
Stuck in the daily routine, Sonny is confused about what he should do. Parents at their child's school canceled their weekend plans. When spending time alone, Sonny actually felt bored.
Suddenly, she thinks about contacting her old friend, Huck (Mark Wahlberg). He also came to celebrate his friend's birthday party.
At first, Sonny hesitated because he knew Huck often did 'crazy things'. Last time, the birthday celebration was done by jumping off a cliff.
And, this 44th birthday celebration was really crazy. Located in the middle of the desert, there are no toilets, and to eat even have to hunt. Even crazier, Sonny was attacked by a lion there.
This is a lot of fun for the audience. This madness seemed like the dream of many.
Not only that, the meeting of the two friends was full of fun. In fact, Sonny felt that he had found happiness that he had not felt in a long time. That's understandable.
This 101 minute film teaches that routine can swallow us alive. Just focus on activities that are repetitive so you forget to look for fun. Not only that, Maya also realizes that taking care of the household is not an easy job and she is very lucky to have Sonny.
